Letter one written somewhere with bad signal

Dear whoever is
hiring a camera,

I did not set out to make films. I set out to go places, and I kept noticing that the best part of every trip was never the part anybody photographed.

So I started carrying a camera. Then a better one. Then one bolted to my helmet. It has been up to Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 metres, down a river in a raft, and into the sea on a borrowed surfboard I mostly fell off.

What I have worked out is simple. You cannot film an experience you are not having. Footage shot from the bank always looks like the bank.

Adventure documentary films

I ride it.
I film it.
You post it.

I am Anurag Agarwal. I join the trip as one of the group, with a camera strapped to my helmet, and come back with a film. Snow, whitewater, dirt, surf, high trail and long road.

So who is this guy

A bloke with a camera and no survival instinct.

Most adventure footage is shot by somebody standing safely on the bank with a long lens. Mine is not. I am in the raft when it goes over, on the board when the light is flat, and halfway up the trail when everybody has stopped pretending to enjoy themselves. That is where the good stuff is.

I am not an influencer and I am not trying to be one. I make films. I shoot everything myself, hand the cards to my editing team the same night, and give you back a cut while the trip is still happening.

There is 1.5 TB of footage on my drives already, across seven different things I am probably too old to be doing. This website is where it stops being a hobby.

Things I have actually done.

Not a mood board. These are trips I went on, with a camera, as a participant. Tap any card for the rest of it.

The one that started this

The river film, start to finish.

A whole rafting course, filmed from inside the boats and handed back to the group before they left. Four steps, in order.

Day one, morning

Before anybody is nervous

Kit goes in, faces come out. The briefing, the helmets, the slightly too loud jokes. Nobody is performing for a camera yet, which makes this the most honest footage of the whole trip, and it only exists if you are already rolling.

How a job runs

Three steps. No production circus.

1Stage one

I come along

As a participant, not a crew. No call sheet, no group standing around waiting for a setup, no production footprint on your trip. Just one more person on the boat who happens to be filming.

2Stage two

The team cuts

Cards get offloaded and duplicated the same night, then go straight to my editing team. Grade, sound and titles happen while I am still out there shooting the back half.

3Stage three

You post it

Hero film, vertical cuts framed for Reels and Shorts at capture rather than cropped later, plus graded stills. Usage rights agreed in writing before the shoot, not argued about after.

For travel and adventure operators

Put a camera on the trip you already run.

You already have the hard part, which is real customers doing a real thing in a beautiful place. What is usually missing is somebody who can do it alongside them and film it at the same time.

🎬

A film per departure

One edited hero film built from the actual group. The people watching it are the people deciding whether to book the next one.

📱

Vertical cuts

Reels and Shorts pulled from the same shoot, framed for 9:16 while filming instead of cropped badly afterwards.

📷

Stills library

Graded, print ready photographs from the same days, for your website, your brochures and your ad sets. No second shoot needed.

🎁

Something for the guests

A cut handed to participants while the trip is still on. It is the single most shared thing an operator can give somebody.

📅

Season retainers

Cover a run of departures so the content calendar fills itself, instead of being reverse engineered in a panic every month.

📦

The existing archive

1.5 TB already shot across snow, water, dirt, road and trail. If it fits your route, it can be licensed and cut without a new shoot at all.
